RF connection

This page shows the data that corresponds to the cable modem section of the Electroline transponder. The data includes RF communications status information as well as the boot-up status of the cable modem section. This page can be used to diagnose and troubleshoot RF problems. Note that if there are RF problems, you can only query this page through the USB port on the transponder itself.

Startup status

Procedure Description Additional information
Boot State Should be "OK" if the cable modem section is booted up properly. Should be Operational unless the boot has failed.
Frequency Shows the downstream frequency in hertz. Should be Locked, unless the cable modem is unable to receive the downstream channel.
Connectivity Should be "OK" if the cable modem has registered and the link is still active. Should be Operational unless the connection is faulty.
Security Can be "Enabled" or "Disabled" If enabled, may indicate BPI or BPI+.

Dual IP

FieldDescription
Current IP Addresses Lists the all the IP addresses (IPv4/IPv6) on Dual IP stack.
MAC Address MAC Address on Dual IP stack.
Gateway Dual IP Gateway.
Subnet Dual IP Subnet.
Configuration file Config file for Dual IP stack.

Downstream

Status Description
Lock Status Should be Locked, unless the cable modem is unable to receive the downstream channel due to noise, absence of signal or other RF problems.
Channel ID Displays the channel number assigned to the downstream channel, if applicable.
Downstream Frequency Shows the downstream frequency in hertz.
SNR Shows the signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio in decibels (dB). A ratio greater than 30 dB is desirable.
Modulation Indicates the type of modulation used for downstream DOCSIS communications. Can be 64 or 256 QAM.
Symbol Rate Shows the downstream channel's data rate, in symbols per second.
Downstream Power Shows the downstream channel's power in a 6-MHz band, expressed in decibels referenced in a millivolt (dBmV).

Upstream Channel

Status Description
Lock Status Should be Locked, unless the cable modem is unable to transmit upstream due to noise, absence of signal or other RF problems.
Channel ID Displays the channel number assigned to the upstream channel, if applicable.
Frequency Shows the upstream frequency in hertz.
Modulation Indicates the type of modulation used for upstream DOCSIS transmissions. Can be 16 QAM or QPSK.
Symbol Rate Shows the upstream channel's data rate, in kilosymbols per second (Ksym/sec).
Power Shows the upstream channel's power, expressed in decibels referenced in a millivolt (dBmV).
